Shoutout to Robert Durham, a first-year teacher and football coach at George Junior High School, for being our bonus edition Springdale Spotlight winner at New Teacher Orientation! Check out his winning photo. Teachers at this event were challenged to take a selfie with their small group, including a district administrator, while using the #SpringdaleFamily in their post. Our next winner will be announced during another bonus edition of Springdale Spotlight at the Springdale Chamber of Commerce Teacher Appreciation event on August 7th! Campbell Walker, a seventh grade student, was one of two students chosen to be keynote speakers at the Office of Innovation Rally for educators in Jonesboro this summer. In 2022, OIE was approved as a TED-Ed Student Talks partner and worked with schools across the state to support educators and students in connecting with content standards, preparation of presentations, video submissions and the opportunity to present live at the OIE Rally. Campbell worked with Mrs. Casey and Mrs. Cobb one day a week preparing a TEDEd student talk and had coaching sessions with Nick Brown and Chrissy Waldhoer from OIE. In addition to her time working at school, she spent many hours working independently at home revising and editing her talk. In her talk, Facing Challenges with Positivity and Perseverance, she shared how she kept a positive attitude while dealing with her mother’s cancer diagnosis. This powerful speech was inspiring and enlightening and was heard by the over 300 OIE Rally participants including administrators and teachers from school districts in- and out-of-state and Arkansas DESE personnel. #SpringdaleFamily

A Huge thank you to Arvest Bank for presenting a check to the Treehouse Pantry for $5,000 as part of the Million Meals Campaign! Each year, Arvest Bank's Million Meals campaign raises money to feed local communities across Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri while also raising awareness about food insecurity. Monetary donations collected during the two-month-long campaign were given directly to food partners to help stock pantries during the busy summer months. Every dollar raised through the campaign provides meals for hungry families. Bank-wide, the campaign provided more than 2.6 million meals by donating $524,451 to 85 food partners. We greatly appreciate Arvest Bank for partnering with Springdale Schools and the Treehouse Pantry!
